East Hardy Varsity Cougars easily dispatched Pendleton County Wildcats on Monday at Pendleton County High School, 17-7.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Levi Price singled, scoring one run, and Gage Dove doubled, scoring two runs.
An error, and a single by Mason Wilkins helped East Hardy Varsity Cougars extend their early lead in the third.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars scored eight runs on one hit in the top of the sixth inning. Dayton Dove lined out, scoring one run, Kaden Barrett grounded out, scoring one run, Patrick Mills drew a walk, scoring one run, Evan Hamilton doubled, scoring two runs, Levi Price drew a walk, scoring one run, Shayne Sisler drew a walk, scoring one run, and Dayton Dove drew a walk, scoring one run.
Shayne Sisler started on the bump for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Kaden Barrett threw one inning of shutout ball for East Hardy Varsity Cougars in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking three.
Gage Dove went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Levi Price and Gage Dove each collected two hits for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. Mason Hamilton paced East Hardy Varsity Cougars with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 13 walks for the game. Shayne Sisler stole two bases.
C Kisamore led Pendleton County Wildcats with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The first baseman went 2-for-2 on the day. C Harper and C Kisamore each collected two hits for Pendleton County Wildcats. Pendleton County Wildcats had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. T Owens, C Kisamore, and C Smith led the team with two free passes each.
