East Hardy Boys Basketball transformed into the Wardensville Warriors and sank the Paw Paw Pirates ship 96-47.
The Cougars held a tribute night honoring Wardensville High School alumni and donned Warriros uniforms.
Wardensville High School along with Mathias High School consolidated in 1979 forming East Hardy High School.
There were 33 Wardensville High School Girls and Boys Basketball alumni recognized during halftime.
The Wardensville Warriors alumni announced were: Branson Teets (1973), Jimmy Dyer (1967), Teddy Hott (1967), Rick Smith (1978), Dennis Miller (1976), Danny Combs (1971), Kathy Strawderman (EHHS), Donny Evans (EHHS), Anthony Orndorff (1976), Ed Ludwig (1962), David Brill (EHHS 1980), David Judy (1978), Charles Combs (1968), Connie Miller (EHHS), Rachel Schetrom (EHHS), Dave Coffman (1978), Dennis Brill (1970, WHS all-time leading scorer 1,265 points), Leon Mongold (1972), Irvin Teets (1973), Darrell Sine (EHHS), Gerald Smith (1961), Dave Miller (1975), Donna Dee (1978), Jerry Hahn (EHHS), Bonnie Miller (1975), Paula Wilkins Richard (1978), Clark Richard (1975), John Hawse (1965), John Hahn (1975), Ronnie Wilson (1975), Bill Westfall (1966), John Bowman (1970) and Bill Barney (1979).
The Wardensville High School Boys Basketball all-time leading scorer was Dennis Brill with 1,265 points.
The Cougars turned into the Warriors and kept that scoring tradition growing on 96 points with four players netting double figures.
Wardensville was guided by Gideon Good with 21 points, followed by Evan Hamilton with 18 points (3’s thrice), Aubrey McCullough with 17 points (two 3’s) and Mason Hamilton contributed 13 points (two 3’s).
The Warriors recorded 10 perimeter buckets as Shayne Sisler, Mason Wilkins and Gage Dove added one apiece.
Wardensville made 14-of-23 free throws
Paw Paw was led by Carder with 25 points (12 FT) and Paul with 16 points (3’s thrice).
The Pirates garnered four 3-pointers and made 15-of-18 free throws.
Wardensville jumped out to a 24-15 advantage after one period of play with Gideon Good netting 10 of his team-best 21 points in that frame.
Wardensville built a 54-21 halftime lead as Evan Hamilton poured in 11 points and Aubrey McCullough added eight points.
The Warriors speared 18 third period points and 24 fourth period points en route to the 96-47 win.
Good paced Wardensville with six markers in the third period and Gage Dove guided the way in the fourth period with 9 points.
Wardensville Warriors could smile about one more win in their honor.
