Linda Joyce (Funk) Conrad, 78, of Petersburg (Grant County), West Virginia, formerly of Hardy County, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 23, 2025, at Tranquillity at Fredericktowne in Frederick, Maryland.
Born on November 11, 1947, in Winchester, Virginia, Linda was the daughter of Elmer L. and Ruby Teets Funk of Baker, West Virginia.
A lifelong learner, Linda began her education in Hardy County at Pleasantdale School and Baker Elementary School before graduating from Wardensville High School in 1965. She later attended Shepherd College and, in 1998, earned a vocational diploma in Administrative Systems from the South Branch Vocational-Technical Center.
Linda worked for the Grant County Commission on Aging and the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 2013 as a Transportation DMV Agent 1.
She enjoyed reading her local newspapers, including the Grant County Press, the Moorefield Examiner, and more recently the Frederick News-Post. She loved keeping up with community happenings, both in print and on Facebook. Creative and expressive, she authored a “Squash Cookbook,” enjoyed music and dancing, and had a fondness for jewelry, scarves, and accessories. Photography was another passion, and she cherished capturing moments throughout her life. Linda attended various church services over the years and most recently worshipped at St. John’s Lutheran Church–Creagerstown in Thurmont, Maryland.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Brandi Marcella Wastler (Conrad), and husband, Dave Wastler, of Keymar, Maryland; her son, Jason William Conrad, and fiancé Kim Morton, of Petersburg, West Virginia; her grandchildren, Abigail Mae Conrad and Isaac William Conrad, both of Petersburg; her brother, Larry W. Funk, and wife, Theresa Funk, of Baker, West Virginia; her half-sister, Betty Hefner of Moorefield, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Funk; her parents, Ruby and Elmer Funk; her half-sister, Carol Yankey; her brothers, Gary Funk, Elmer D. “Pete” Funk, and Robert “Bob” Funk; and her half-brother, Donald Teets.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at 1 PM at the Cornerstone Family Fellowship, 1516 Lunice Creek Highway, Petersburg, WV 26847.
