The Junior Cougars Wrestling team pounced and clawed past Pendleton County Middle School and Petersburg Middle School in the season opening tri-match in Baker.
East Hardy Middle School defeated the Wildcats 58-6 and the Vikings 52-30 to complete the sweep on the mat.
The Junior Cougars started off with a second period pin (1:25) by Adonis Toulomelis against Pendleton County and followed with another second period pin (1:16) by Chase Rossman.
Clinton Nutter, Aiden Smallwood and Maddie Heishman each collected forfeit wins for East Hardy Middle School against the Wildcats.
The Junior Cougars scored three more wins by pin against Pendleton County by Eli Vandevander (1:32), Dominic Rossman (0:18) and Daniel Buckley (0:24).
Pendleton County’s Taylor denied the shutout with a pin against William “Bear” Poe.
East Hardy Middle School finished the match against the Vikings which included six pins created by Chase Rossman (0:10), Clinton Nutter (1:00), Aiden Smallwood (0:02), Eli Vandevander (0:11), Dominic Rossman (0:14) and Bear Poe (0:08).
Heishman, Toulomelis and Grafton Whitacre added forfeit wins for the Cougars against Petersburg Middle School.
The Vikings took forfeit wins for their points.
East Hardy Middle School will visit Pendleton County on December 29 and hosts Skyline Middle School from Front Royal, VA along with Warm Springs Middle School to kick off the New Year on January 5.
