Moorefield Middle School Girls Basketball split the games against Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School in the Hive last week.
The Yellow Jackets 7th grade team edged the Bears 16-15. MMS held an 8-5 edge with a four-point burst in the last 45 seconds of the opening frame to
commandeer that lead and took a 12-11 advantage into halftime.
The burst of scoring for the Yellow Jackets was complements of Kate Cumberland and Allison DTEMS responded to take a 13-12 lead in the third period and extended the lead to 15-12 in
the final stanza.
Shylan Wolfe scored four points for the Bears to help gain the lead in the third period. The Yellow Jackets responded in the final few minutes with two big baskets by Cumberland
and Ours to regain the lead and held off the Bears for the win.
MMS scored four points in each period to secure the victory. Ours led the Yellow Jackets with six points, followed by Cumberland and Kylan Markwood with
four points apiece and Isabella Barb added two markers.

The Yellow Jackets started buzzing in the second period and trailed DTEMS 27-8 at halftime. Anna Koontz notched three points in the second period, while Brynlee and Elizabeth Herrera added two points each. VIMS scored thrice in the third period as Rebecca hit a jumper just inside the perimeter line, lus a layup by Koontz and Ally Landes added a put-back. However, the Bears stepped ahead MMS got buckets from Koontz and Markwood with help on a steal by Aeries Deetz in the final
period, but the Bears hibernated with a 44-18 win. Morgan Simmons led the Bears with seven points in the first period attack en route to a game-high 19 points and Addy Johnson finished with 16 points in the victory. Anna Koontz scored the lone marker for the Yellow Jackets in the opening stanza, but would score in each frame for a total of eight points guiding the squad. MMS collected contributions on the scoreboard with a quintet of players netting two points apiece: Rebecca Liller, Ally Landes, Brynlee Coppe, Elizabeth Herrera and Kylan Markwood
