Cecil Alton Rinard, 87, of Wardensville, W.Va., passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on Oct.12, 1938, in Wardensville, the son of the late Clarence Lee “Pete” Rinard and Dorothy Jenkins Rinard. He was a farmer by trade and had retired from the U.S. Forest Service. In addition to farming, he enjoyed hunting and observing wildlife.
On Nov. 28, 1988, he married Gail Ann Harman Rinard in Mt. Solon, Va.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Karen Anderson and husband Doug of Wardensville, and Annette Davis and husband Eddie of Yellow Spring, W.Va., one son, Marty Rinard and wife Kristen of Wardensville; three stepdaughters, Julie Botkin and husband Lynn of Fulks Run, Va., Joy Smith and husband Jake of Weyers Cave, Va., and Jeanette Thompson and husband Mike of Verona, Va.; one stepson, Jeff Allman and wife Rita of Dayton, Va.; two grandchildren, Rusty and Anthony; 11 stepgrandchildren, Kenton, Kris, Jessica, Jason, Jerry, Jamie, Alisha, Will, Cory, Brandon, and Ashley; four great-grandchildren; and 27 great-stepgrandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters, Grace Smith and Mary Fishel, both of Wardensville, and Shirley Garrett of Harrisville, W.Va.; and a brother, Tommy Rinard of Wardensville.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Jay Harman; three sisters, Ota Feltner, Jean Bowers, and Hilda Cooper Ewing; and two brothers: Claude Lloyd Rinard and Gary Rinard.
A celebration of Cecil’s life will be held on November 16, 2025, at the Wardensville War Memorial Building from 1-4 PM.
