“We tailed al week about coming out with high intensity and doing the little things like we always do. I didn’t think we executed all that well last week and this week we came out and executed a lot better this week. I thought I knew how they would respond and did what I thought they would,” Keyser coach Derek Stephen stated.
“These seniors even from the summer time, they have brought a different mentality and focus to the team. It doesn’t matter which one we call on, because they all are going to step up and do what they have to do. We have a bunch of them who can step into that role of leadership. We try to play as fast as the referees will let us. We want to control the tempo. It is great when you have somebody like Grayson who can return kicks, catch the ball and run. It makes my coaching job a little easier.”
Both teams struggled on the ensuing drives with back-to-back turnovers on downs with the latter on a fourth down pass rush by Moorefield’s Brady Vetter forcing an incompletion.

The Yellow Jackets started at their own 15-yard line after a fumbled kickoff and quarterback Brock Linville’s pass was intercepted on a leap by Lambka.

“Keyser is good, it’s a triple A squad. We came in and at times we looked really good and times we looked really bad.[Seniors] They know they have 12 quarters of football left to play in their careers and now it is eight. Oliver has been hurt and we know he is hurt, but you wouldn’t know it by his play. He comes out every time and gives it everything he’s got. We started a freshman at tailback and I thought he ran well. Brock led the offense. We moved the ball, but we made critical mistakes at times. It is frustrating. These are mistakes we haven’t done all week. It was little things like kicking the ball out of play. We did well in the third quarter during the clock, then they would score in just two plays. We controlled the game when we had the ball. Keyser is tough,” Moorefield coach Eric Linville commented.
Moorefield and Keyser teams met at midfield to have a postgame prayer together.
