Moorefield Middle School 7th grade Volleyball team bested the Cougars 25-9 and 25-13, while East Hardy Middle School 8th grade Volleyball defeated the Yellow Jackets 25-19 and 25-17 in the Junior Hardy County Volleyball showdown in the Hive.
The 8th grade teams met at the beginning of the season in the Fear the Pack Invitational in Berkeley Springs with the Cougars obtaining the crown and the Yellow Jackets kept battling in the second battle in Moorefield last week.
Moorefield Middle’s Ally Landes and Madelynn Vetter served up two aces apiece in the first set of the 8th grade match and Harper Hunt added another ace.
East Hardy Middle’s Myla Gordon and Hannah Riggle delivered three aces each in the opening set of the 8th grade match against the Yellow Jackets.
The Cougars had solid net play for Harper Kline, while Hunt kept attacks coming for the Yellow Jackets.
Bella Linville and Summer Heavner served a pair of aces apiece for the Yellow Jackets in the second set.
East Hardy Middle’s Georgia Hahn, Savannah Suit and Myla Gordon launched aces during the second set.
Kline recorded seven kills for the Cougars in the second set en route to the victory.
