East Hardy Golf had a late promising start to the season as the Cougars trio recorded the lowest scores in the scrimmage match among all the competitors battling against Moorefield JV, Petersburg JV and Union’s lone golfer at Valley View Golf Club in Moorefield.
The match was considered a scrimmage due to numerous of players on the teams and junior varsity members participating, so no points counted towards the overall season as a match.
East Hardy Golf lost Class A state champion Jordan Teets to graduation, but the golfers this year are stepping up to the challenge.
East Hardy Golf head coach is Renee Reed and assistant coach is Jared Combs.
The Cougars Golf team members present for the match at Valley View were: Nicholas Miller (spotter), Albert Lermineaux, Eli Combs, Patrick Mills and Shayne Sisler (injured reserve/spotter).
East Hardy’s Patrick Mills was the overall low medalist with a card of 48, followed by Eli Combs and Albert Lermineaux with 55 strokes apiece.
Moorefield JV was paced by Kody Biser with a score of 56, followed by Tyler Roy with 61, Geoffrey Williams with 64 and Porter Alt with 69.
Petersburg JV was guided by Josh Lahman with a 58, followed by Iann Doman with a 63.
Union’s Braylon Ward finished the day with a card of 62.
The Cougars had fun on the course and kept things interesting with the tree branches looming overhead.
