Rosa Lee (Crites) Armentrout, age 67 of Moorefield, WV passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA surrounded by her loving family.
Rose was born on April 17, 1958 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Loring “Harvey” John Crites and Bonnie Lee (Shreve) Crites. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by two infant grandchildren, one sister, Beverly Ann “Sue” Hines and two brothers, John William Crites and Matthew Edward Crites.
Rose was a cherished wife to her husband of 51 years, Stanley L. Armentrout, a nurturing mother to her two sons, Wade Armentrout and wife Shelly of Old Fields, WV and Greg Armentrout and wife Heather of Cadiz, KY and a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren, Kailee Armentrout, Barrett Armentrout, and Beatrice Rose Armentrout; four brothers, Steve Crites and wife Shirley of Moorefield, WV, Loring “Bubby” Crites of Petersburg, WV, Scott Crites of Moorefield, WV and Fred Crites of Moorefield, WV; brother-in-law, Mark Hines; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Crites and Linda Crites and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Rose exemplified Christian values, teaching Sunday School for many years and sharing her faith with gentle fervor. She was a childcare provider for 50 years which involved 150 children. She left an indelible mark on her community, not only through her spiritual contributions but also through her work at the concession stand at the Moorefield Town Park and Moorefield High School. Rose was known for her delicious Hot Dog chili. Rose was an avid supporter of all athletic events. Rose was a faithful member of the Moorefield Assembly of God Church.
We reflect on the profound influence Rose had on her community and the immeasurable warmth she brought to others. Rose was an organ donor and her legacy will continue to inspire us to live with the same compassion and grace that she embodied.
Rose’s family will receive friends on Monday 5:00 – 8:00 PM, July 28, 2025 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday 11 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with her son, Pastor Wade Armentrout and Pastor D. J. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Claire Haire Crites Cemetery, Critestown, WV.
Rose’s family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Charity of donor’s choice.
