Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets Breeze Past Tucker County Varsity Mountain Lions

Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets won big over Tucker County Varsity Mountain Lions 10-0 on Wednesday.

Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Trevor Baldwin grounded out, Ben Watts singled to center field, and Blake Snyder doubled to left field, each scoring one run.

Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Kail Greenwalt singled to center field, and Oliver Crites doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Shawn Reed grounded out, Greenwalt grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

Cyrus Kump earned the win for Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets. The righty gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Owen Bolyard took the loss for Tucker County Varsity Mountain Lions. The southpaw went two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking four. Watts and Baldwin each came on in relief for Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets and shutdown Tucker County Varsity Mountain Lions.

Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets tallied 10 hits in the game. Caleb Flinn, Greenwalt, and Crites each collected two hits for Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets. Greenwalt, Crites, and Baldwin each drove in two runs for Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets. Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets turned one double play in the game.

Tyler Ricottilli went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Tucker County Varsity Mountain Lions in hits. Tucker County Varsity Mountain Lions turned two double plays in the game.

Next up for Moorefield Varsity Yellowjackets is a game at Strasburg on Thursday.
