The Warriors took an initial 8-0 lead in the first quarter at the 4:32 mark on a six yard touchdown run by Logan Dilley with Briar Wilfong adding the two-point conversion.
Moorefield kept the score the same until late in the third quarter when Pocahontas County scored twice in about two minutes.
Shane Peacock made a one yard touchdown run for the Warriors at the 3:23 mark of the third quarter and David Bond caught the conversion pass from Wilfong.
Peacock found the end zone again from ten yards out at the 1:13 mark and the conversion failed as Pocahontas County went up 22-0 and prevented the Yellow Jackets from scoring.
Moorefield had 46 plays and managed only 83 total yards in 24:06 time of possession.
[private] Peacock led all rushers with 29 carries for 195 yards with two touchdowns.
Moorefield quarterback Brent Moran went 8-of-18 for 48 passing yards with Quentin Crider his top receiver with two catches for 28 yards.
Matt Mongold led the Yellow Jackets with 17 carries for 35 rushing yards.
The Warriors had 323 yards of offense including 287 on the ground.
Southern Garrett, Md. 40, Moorefield 0
Southern Garrett scored four touchdowns in the first half for a 27-0 lead at halftime en route to the 40-0 win and kept the Yellow Jackets from responding.
Moorefield started the game at the 25-yard line and the initial pass from Brent Moran was incomplete before connecting with Quentin Crider for a 12-yard first down catch.
Moran was sacked on second down before making a pass to Kolby Hunt, who was dropped for a loss.
Hunt’s punt was blocked and the Rams took over at the 15-yard line.
Two plays later, Southern Garrett scored from ten yards out at the 9:43 mark.
Moorefield’s Javon Fawley gained 13 yards rushing after a holding penalty.
The Rams were drawn offsides, then there was another holding call and a short pass to Matt Jenkins.
Hunt punted to the Southern Garrett 25-yard line.
The Rams moved the chains once on a face mask penalty, but the drive stalled with an offensive holding penalty leading to a punt.
Moran and Jenkins were tackled for losses, then Hunt’s punt was blocked and collected for a touchdown at the 3:23 mark.
The Yellow Jackets couldn’t get past midfield despite a two yard pass to Ben Pyles on the next possession as Southern Garrett recorded two sacks.
Crider recovered a fumble for Moorefield at the Southern Garrett 33-yard line, but the Rams intercepted Moran to begin the second quarter at the nine yard line.
Southern Garrett moved the chains once before punting.
Moorefield went three and out on the following series.
The Rams went 56 yard in nine plays ending with a six yard touchdown at the 4:04 mark for a 21-0 advantage.
After a punt by the Yellow Jackets, Southern Garrett struck again with a two yard touchdown run with under a minute left in the first half, 27-0.
The Rams added a touchdown in the third and fourth quarters for the final of 40-0.
Moorefield made 43 plays and only mustered 30 yards on offense in 20:32 minutes of action with four first downs recorded and punting nine times. Moran went 8-of-20 for 39 passing yards, while making seven carries for negative 42 yards.
Fawley had six carries for 29 rushing yards.
Crider caught four passes for 30 yards.
Southern Garrett utilized 50 plays for 356 offensive yards including 261 on the ground.
Moorefield (0-3) hosts Tucker County on Friday.
