Tharp Nets 1,000th Career Point
East Hardy junior Brett Tharp reached the milestone of 1,000 career points during the Region II Section 2 quarterfinals against Paw Paw last Monday.
“It means a lot since I am only a junior. I’ve scored a lot in three years and I plan to score a lot more, but the team is more important trying to get them
to score with assists,” East Hardy junior Brett Tharp remarked.
This season alone, Tharp averaged 28 points per game with 210 field goals and notched 588 points.
“He knows we will put him in a position to be successful. The days he is in control, he is unstoppable,” East Hardy Coach Chris Hahn noted.
Robinson Collects 500 Rebounds
East Hardy senior Ricky Robinson collected his 500th career rebound in the regular season finale against Paw Paw on February 20.
“It’s pretty special. Honestly all it is, is going up and saying every ball is your baby. That’s basically what I do. Rebounding is a difference making stat. I’m proud of our team being the first one in seven years to go .500 for the season. That’s a pretty good accomplishment as a team,” East Hardy senior Ricky Robinson stated.
Robinson’s rebounding efforts enabled him to create ten double-doubles this season scoring an average of 12.1 points per game this season with 292 points.
“We’ve always had big expectations for Rick. Ricky is just a great kid. For him to get 500 rebounds and hit that milestone is fantastic for him.
The future is super bright for Rick and he will do great in whatever he puts his mind to,” East Hardy Coach Chris Hahn commented.
Robinson’s father was a basketball star for West Virginia University, so the basketball genes run in the family.
