Ruth Evelyn Kane Shelley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. She was 85.
Born in Chesapeake City, Md. on Feb. 22, 1932, she spent her childhood at the Home for Girls in Easton, Md. and in several foster homes.
On December 29, 1953, she married Duane Martin Shelley of York Haven, Pa. They had six children.
Ruth was a stay-at-home mother and while raising her children, she enjoyed working on crafts, gardening, camping and listening to country music. She was an avid Canasta player and would host parties at her home. She and Duane were also involved in Citizens Band Radio clubs and activities. Duane passed away in September 1981.
Ruth married Fred M. Skiles, a Pearl Harbor survivor in 1987. He passed away in 1990.
In addition to her two husbands, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Lawson Wilkins Shelley and a much-loved companion Donnie Bryson.
Ruth is survived by her children, Jean (and Pat) Flanagan of Baker, W. Va., Alfreda (and Richard) Pribila of Summit Hill, Pa., Darlene (and Dusty) Faught of Show Low, Ariz., Duane II (and Angela) Shelley of Baltimore, Md. and Tracey (and Richard) Burns of Byron, Ga. She is also survived by five grandchildren, John Spangler, Michael Pribila, Christopher Maddux, Nicholas Burns and Nathaniel Burns and four great-grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, Ruth will be cremated and inturnment will be private.
