The Christmas Parade starts at the Moorefield Town Park and goes to the intersection of Winchester and Main streets. Bill Fitzwater is in charge of the parade and his phone number is 304-851-4499. Please call him if you are interested in being in the parade.[private]
The Moorefield High School Band will march in the parade and will play a Christmas song at the Moorefield Parking Lot next to the Christmas Tree.
The Christmas ceremony will start at 5 p.m. with a prayer request from Tim Ball and then five talented singers, Carly Hershberger, Melinda Poling-Sherman, Emily Sherman, Isabelle Nesbit and Angela Hoffman will sing a Christmas carol. There will be a short talk about the Community Christmas Tree before Santa Claus and his Singing Elves arrive by a horse drawn carriage at 6 p.m. to light the Christmas Tree and declare the beginning of the Christmas Season in Moorefield.
At 6:15 p.m. there will be a Christmas Party in the auditorium of the Duffey United Methodist Church with 250 Christmas packages being given free to children and a Christmas meal, free for all.
At 7 p.m. there will be a Christmas Magic Show and there is a new magician this year, Paul Louis.
The event is hosted by the Moorefield Lions Club, Hardy County Historical Society, and the Town of Moorefield. It would not be possible except for the generous giving of local businesses and others in our community. A program will be given which lists the business sponsors.
O’Neill’s will provide hot chocolate in the parking lot during the parade. For more information contact William H. Bean, chairman at 304-257-7901.[/private]
