McGregor filled the position after Robert Miller unexpectedly resigned just before the Thanksgiving break. McGregor has been the Moorefield Middle School principal for more than a decade.
“Mr. McGregor is a familiar face that all the students, parents and staff know,” said Interim Superintendent Sheena VanMeter. “I really felt we needed stability for the time being.”
Scott Stutler, health and physical education teacher at Moorefield Middle School was appointed principal at MMS until McGregor returns.
The MHS principal’s position was posted as of Nov. 21.
Director of Facilities Steve Williams reported the larger areas of the East Hardy Early Middle School roof are completed. “There are four small areas and we believe it will be less than seven days to complete,” he said.
Darnold Mechanical will return to EHEMS on Tuesday, Nov. 28 to provide training on the HVAC systems. That part of the contract was substantially completed at the end of October.
Williams said Riddleburger Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning will attend the training sessions as well.
“Riddleburger has received the preventative maintenance contract for the schools for the past several years,” he said. “It would be good for them to know the system.”
The next meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education will be held on Monday, Dec. 4 at East Hardy Early Middle School. A public hearing on the 2018-19 school calendar will begin at 5:30 p.m. The regular BOE meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.[/private]
