John Randolph Hawse, 77, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born in Wardensville, West Virginia on September 23, 1939, he was the son of the late Stanley Price and Lois Jordan Hawse.
John retired as a teacher and Assistant Principle at Orange County High School. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Orange, where he served as the Financial Secretary and was on the Permanent Endowment Committee. He was also a board member of the Orange County Library Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Tisdale Hawse of Orange; a daughter, Jaclyn Hawse Bednarek and husband, Christopher of Honolulu Hawaii; a son, John Randolph Hawse IV and wife, Gresin of Rochester, Minnesota; a brother, Stanley Price Hawse II and wife, Marylee of Wilmington, North Carolina; three grandchildren, John Randolph Hawse V, Olivia Marie Hawse, and Ellison Taylor Bednarek; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Bean Hawse of Elkins, West Virginia.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy “Bill” Byron Hawse. A memorial service was at 11 am, Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Orange. Pastor Craig Newman officiated.
The family received friends at the church from 10 until 11 a.m.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his name to the Permanent Endowment Committee, Trinity UMC, 143 West Main Street, Orange, VA 22960, or the John R. Hawse Memorial Fund which has been established to provide financial support for Orange Science Students.
