The Hardy County Tour & Craft Association is excited to announce the return of the “heaviest” pumpkin contest for Heritage Weekend. So if you haven’t already, be sure to plant that seed and tend to that pumpkin patch so that you can enter. Prizes and prestige await the heaviest entry!
Last year was the first year for the contest which paid homage to the agricultural heritage of our local community. The event took place on [private]Sunday of Heritage Weekend on the lawn of Summit Community Bank. The board is working to make the event an annual one with hopes that it will be even better received this year. “Last year we had about six pumpkins entered, with the largest weighing in at about 80 pounds. We hope that even more folks will participate this year,” said Kriston Strickler, 2017 Heritage Weekend chair.
