Garnet Marie Hines Self, 88, of Martinsburg, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.[private]
She was born on August 5, 1927 in Fort Ashby, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Aubrey Sylvester Hines and Viva Keziah See Hines.
She was previously employed as a bookkeeper and was a member of the Martinsburg Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by three sons, Stanley H. Self of Rapid City, S.D., Herman H. Self, Jr. and wife, Libby Carr Self of West End, N.C., and Aubrey B. Self and wife, Vicki Croft Self of Nampa, Idaho; one daughter, Sharon L. Self and husband, Tony Vitale of Martinsburg; one beloved foster daughter, Linda Chenoweth Dolly of Morgantown, W.Va.; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Self, Sr.
A funeral service was held on Monday, January 11, 2016 with Bishop John Carpenter officiating at Martinsburg Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1050 Lovelace Way, Martinsburg, W.Va. A graveside service was held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mathias, W.Va. later on January 11, with Bishop J. Stephen Kimble officiating.
