Bertha Shook Strawderman, 87, of Mathias, W.Va. died April 3, 2017 at E.A. Hawse Nursing Home in Baker, W.Va.
She was born June 22, 1929 in Mathias, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Albert and Victoria Combs Shook.
Bertha was a homemaker. She was a member of Mathias Church of the Brethren, the Women’s Fellowship of the church, and VFW Auxillary #7780 in Mathias.
On March 2, 1951 she married Grant Dayton Strawderman, who preceded her in death August 24, 2003.
Surviving is one daughter, Barbara Foltz and husband Alvin of Mathias; two grandsons, Adam Foltz and fiancé Erica of Mathias, Alex Foltz and wife Jenny of Mathias; one sister, Minnie May of Mathias.
Five sisters, Marie Southerly, Edna Strawderman, Gladys Cullers, Geneva Mongold, Lena Jenkins; and two brothers, Melvin and Paul Shook, preceded her in death.
Pastors Bob Curns and Nick Yurcaba conducted a funeral service Thursday, April 6 at Mathias Church of the Brethren. Burial was at Strawderman Family Cemetery on Lost River Park Road.
